What is a Synonym?
Synonyms are words that have the same, or almost the same meaning.
EXAMPLES
fast ---- quick
car ---- automobile
chair ---- seat
stop ---- halt
pretty ---- beautiful
Nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other partsof speech can have synonyms. Both words MUST be of the same part of speech.
EXAMPLES
Noun.............. worry - concern
Verb.............. agree - concur
Adjective........ short - brief
Preposition..... about - concerning
Adverb........... slowly- gradually

The purpose of a thesarus is to offer the user a listing of similar or related words; these are often, but not always, synonyms. A thesarus can be in book form, or a toolfound on the internet.
